Savage Garden is one of my all-time favourite bands. I was devastated when they broke up in 2001. Darren Hayes is just not that awesome without Daniel Jones (still love his songs though).
This song was actually produce by Walter Afanasieff (multiple Grammy award-winning record produced and songwriter who has also produced songs for Ricky Martin, Mariah Carey, and Celine Dion!!). No wonder it was such a hit!
Just now I had my iPod on shuffle, and ‘Affirmation’ started playing. This is the THIRD time today that I have heard that song. One when listening to the morning radio station; another on the way home from uni on the afternoon radio; and now. As the saying goes:
“Once is happenstance. Twice is coincidence. The third time it’s enemy action.” – [Goldfinger]
I have listened to this song numerous times since its first release back in 1999, but never had I actually concentrated on the lyrics and appreciated its meaning.
Now that I have, I think it’s all that more brilliant…
American-born Hong Kong-based soul Mandopop singer/songwriter.
Currently #1 on my music playlist. There’s just something about his voice – unique, soothing, very likeable.
Check out the links below of 2 of my favourite songs by him (so far). Yes, they’re english, but he covers Mandarin songs also.
“nothings gonna change my love for you – khalil fong” (obviously he didn’t compose this one, but it’s a great cover nevertheless)
Dayumm this girl can sing! … need I say more?
Born in 1992, that makes her 18 years old this year, … and with a voice comparable to some of America’s finest, Mariah Carey and Whitney Houston. Of Philippine descent, she is the first Asian to enter the Top 10 on the Billboard 200 Album Chart in 2010 with her self-titled international debut album ‘Charice’.
She has appeared several times on Oprah Winfrey’s show, Ellen DeGeneres show, and even sang a duet with my all-time fave Celine Dion. And yet, I had never heard of her until last Wednesday, when I was watching the first episode of Glee’s season 2. Glee’s executive music producer has described by stating that “angels fly out” when she sings… and I totally concur. If you’re not too sure, then I suggest you check out the mv below. It will blow your socks away~~ seriously.
And once again, a new generation of nanos have dawned upon us.
Many of my friends have expressed disdain towards this latest evolution. Personally, I think it looks pretty savvy. I’d been expecting Apple to develop a touch mp3 for a while now, and am pretty excited its here … though unfortunately not excited enough to head out to the nearest Apple store and buy one myself. Why? … I am currently the owner of an iPod classic and so would probably feel unsatisfied with something that doesnt play video…no matter how incredibly small it is. No doubt, Apple will soon develop a new iPod classic with Multi-touch, of which I guarantee will be my next iPod.
